Lesser Goldfinch

The diminutive Lesser Goldfinch shares many characteristics with its close cousin, the American Godlfinch. With a short, conical beak, forked tail, splashes of yellow or yellow green, this seed eating bird is a frequent visitor to thistle feeders throughout the western coastal states, the southewest, and toward central Texas.
Description: 4" tall with black/brown back, and yellow (male) upperparts, and yellow-green (female) lower body. Males may have a black crown.
