Slick Squirrels

To those bothered with squirrels everywhere.
One way I have found to help deter squirrels from robbing my feathered friends feed-mix is to put grease on the feeder support poles. Note: The more the grease stinks, the better it works. This is not a completely fool proof way to avoid this problem, but it does keep them away most of the time. I also place several squirrel feeders using field corn in other places in my yard. This presents added costs, but I have found a farmer that raises the corn to feed his cattle with who lets me purchase a 50 lb. burlap sack for $5.00. The squirrels enjoy eating on the field corn more if its available.
