Feeding Birds

This is our first year in a new house after living in our previous house for thirty years!!! So, I finally bought some new bird feeders and feed yesterday, and this morning spent about a half hour setting things up. While I was up at the edge of the woods installing a suet feeder, a Downy Woodpecker and a White Breasted Nuthatch were calling above my head and seemingly interested in my activity. Once I was done, I came down the hill and began setting up another feeder closer to the house. It was less than 15 minutes and three woodpeckers were already fighting over who had "pecking order" rights over the feeder. Now, about five hours later, we have had Downy and Red Bellied Woodpeckers, White Breasted Nuthatches, Tufted Titmice, Black Capped Chickadees, Dark Eyed Juncos, and Blue Jays visit us!!! It looks like a fun winter approaching. There are Pileated woodpeckers in the woods - have heard them all summer - so we are looking forward to them visiting us soon.
